Home prices are rising according to the latest Case-Shiller data. The reason, as reported in the Wall Street Journal (link), is that the number of distressed properties has fallen and are now at the same level as August 2008.
Prices are no longer falling in the Daytona Beach market. I’m seeing that prices are steady, but we have not seen an increase in prices here. In this area, there’s still a lot of short sales and banks are accepting reasonable offers. The process is still arduous and can be long, but the best deals are probably with short sales.
