How important is preparing your home for sale? A report from the National Association of Realtors (NAR) from 2015, states:
Realtors® believe that buyers most often offer a 1 to 5 percent increase on the value of a staged home (37 percent from Realtors® representing sellers and 32 percent from Realtors® representing buyers). Additionally, 22 percent of Realtors®representing sellers and 16 percent of Realtors® representing buyers said the increase is closer to 6 to 10 percent.
Let’s make it clear that there is staging and then there is preparing. In this article, we’re talking about preparing. The preparation will help the staging. A worn carpet will still be worn if staged. Realtors from the same NAR report rank the order of importance for the top five rooms as follows:
